Silos manufactured for the City of Cape Town, installed in Gordon’s Bay at Steenbras Dam.
The function of these silos is to hold lime, in order to add it to the drinking water supplied by the dam.
Silos are lifted into the frame, and installed onto 4 load cells used to monitor the weight throughout its use.
One of the largest structures we’ve ever built, the silos are 16m high, and 4.5m in diameter. The walls were constructed from 10mm thick steel plates, and the manufacture and installation was executed by TGS, from start to finish.
